From the heart

Today at school we talked about prom and prom proposals, ranked cheesy love poems and wrote our own poems (or rather: my students did). Then we kind of wondered what we would tell love, if we could?

Something like this.

                              ***

Dear love,
I thank you for all the times you have made an appearance in my life. It was special to me, always. I thank you for the relationships I had because I carried you in my heart. I apologize for us humans not being strong or good or willing enough to keep you alive with us so you had to leave. I know you deserved better.

I vow the next time you stop by in my life, I will be waiting by the trail to welcome you. (Please make sure to arrive more like a tornado and hit me on the head with wind in my hair and sand in my eyes than a gentle breeze -I seem to be slow sometimes). I will try to share you with a person that appreciates you as much as I will. We will cherish you by being the truest version of ourselves with each other and living a life built on you- or trying to, every day.

See you soon.
