We are four

“This family feels complete again“,
my sister observed this weekend.
And she was right.

My mum opened the door to me
and smiled her true smile
and sat with me to drink coffee
and have a chat

She played games with us
and shouted with joy as she beat us
and teased my dad mercilessly
and kissed him, and us

My dad was having a nap when I arrived
and seemed relaxed when he came down
and no worries were evident in his face
just a huge smile and a mock anger (Why is my coffee not ready?)

He played games with us as always
and let my mum rummage about in the kitchen
and teased her lovingly
and leaned back to proudly look at us at dinner

This is what my family feels like.
I hope it never stops.
