tinytalk (definition)
Smalltalk opens doors, helps you to get on comfortable ground with new people, keeps meetings cordial and encourages further conversation in case both parties are interested and open for it. To be honest, though, it has taken me a long time to appreciate smalltalk and use it as a helpful tool in everyday life, one I benefit from, however small my skills in this area ;-). Besides, some friends that were once strangers I’ve first bonded with via smalltalk – therefore, sincerely, thank you.
On the other hand, what a colleague made me name “tinytalk“ makes me roll my eyes due to its utter uselessness. Tinytalk annoys and thus closes doors with a bang, definitely increases my urge to run away and scream and encourages me to further implement the cold shoulder treatment for people I do not wish to converse with and feel no obligatio to. It is just speaking without saying anything, and in my eyes a complete waste of time.
As you can probably imagine, tinytalk is not for me. 😉 Yesterday I barely resisted saying so – instead I let my silence speak and walked away asap.
