the intelligence of nature

“Nature does not have any waste –
we still have not figured that out“

What a simple truth, yet one that has immense effects. Once I had thought this through, it all was so simple.

Nature is more intelligent that us. It plans ahead. It has created a perfect circle of life, and is quietly competent.

We, however, are more like walking on a straight line, only looking at what is right in front of us, never worrying about longterm effects down or narrow(minded) road or about why the way we live on this earth could stab us in the back. How this earth might not be there for our grandchildren to be enjoyed, but how they might need protection coz earth might be fighting back.

It bothers me how careless and aimless this world we live in seems to be treated – by the majority of people, industries, and by me, too. I am trying to do the little things right: I usually take public transport, I bring my own home-cooked lunch, I buy regional products, I do not eat meat, I read ebooks and reuse my paper for lesson preparations, I speak about this in class, I shower quickly (mostly) and turn down the heating. I try to separate waste and sell or give away books or furniture I do not need or use anymore, so that somebody else can profit from what once was mine.

Still. I do create waste. Everybody does. I like travelling and exploring new countries, I love my car, I refuse to make my own toothpaste. I have not yet figured out how not to create waste at all without living. And I believe this is a main concern of many…

My only hope is that: since nature has created mankind, too, it means we have the tools to figure it out.
