Lessons my mum’s illness teaches me

Listen, even if you do not understand.
Separate the illness from the person.
See tears as something good, as she feels something again.
Love unconditionally – she is my mum, no matter what.
See the baby-steps of progress and always encourage her.
There is no room for anger at fate. Anger does not help.
Make room for compassion.
Tell her you love her. Always.
Depression is a bitch.Remember the good times when she was really there and an active part of your life.
