This is not goodbye
This is an “I want to thank you, Fecher“
I want to thank you
that you slept in my tshirt and warmed my tummy
when you were only a baby
and that you survived the car accident when you were little
and came out stronger
I want to thank you
that you brought me countless dead mice
when you were young
I appreciated the gifts
I want to thank you
that you always made me laugh and feel loved
when I was down
You always knew when I needed it
I want to thank you
that you often sat on my mother’s lap
when she was playing keyboard
You always enjoyed that, and so did she
I want to thank you
that you forgave me for moving out
when I was 22
and that you have loved my family as much as I do
I want to thank you
that you afterwards kept my dad company
when he was having breakfast
and that you filled a void
I want to thank you
that you always cared for the little ones
and that you were the guardian of the keep for as long as I can remember
and kept the red one out!
I want to thank you
that you used to sleep curled up between my legs
and that your weight always settled me
I want to thank you
that you have been a part of my family since the day we had you, and always will be
You have taken your place in our hearts
and this is where you rest now
