For the restless

If you feel like crawling out of your skin,
pacing restlessly like a caged animal;
if your growling at others and can not find a reason to smile,
muttering negative thoughts to yourself,
sit down.

Light a candle, a fire, a Christmas tree.
Breathe.
Observe the light until you feel its warmth filling your heart, then close your eyes.

Imagine a path in front of you that leads away from all this. There may be rocks on the way, or walls. Jump, or dance around them. Your feet are light. Listen to the sound of your steps on the ground, as you slowly set one foot in front of the other. What can you hear?
Breathe in deeply through your nose. What do you smell?
You’re moving towards one of your favourite places. Can you feel the joy in your heart? Are you aware of the smile blooming in your face?
Look around you and take it all in. What can you see? Notice the colours that are familiar and soothing.

Sit somewhere, right here, at your favourite place right now. Here and now you can enjoy its beauty. Sit and listen to the happiness inside you. Lean back and enjoy what you feel.
You do not have to go anywhere. Stay for as long as you like. Enjoy.

When you are ready, go back. Remember to take your happiness with you this time.
